The Natural Gas Technologies Centre (NGTC), founded in 1992, is the only independent Canadian technology centre dedicated to natural gas, from distribution to utilization.
NGTC is responding to the changing energy market by exploring market solutions for renewable energy sources such as biogas, solar thermal and geothermal, while remaining proactive in energy efficiency and demand side management. Our vision is to promote the use of natural gas as a means to facilitate the transition from a fossil-based economy to a low-carbon energy economy.
Our clients include gas utilities, equipment manufacturers, government agencies, professional associations and universities.
Take the opportunity to visit our 900 sq-m modern laboratory, which is used for natural gas product demonstrations, product pre-certification testing, renewable energy product testing, product development, and many other types of project. NGTC's laboratory is equipped with a climate chamber which enables us to evaluate different technologies subjected to extreme ambient temperatures (-30°C to +40°C), a combined solar thermal and natural gas water heater demonstration, and a fully instrumented thermal comfort test chamber, as well as other specialized equipment. You will also have the opportunity to become acquainted with some of our most recent projects.
Following your visit to NGTC, you will visit the Gaz Métro training school for certified gas plumbers (École de Technologie Gazière). In 2005, the École de Technologie Gazière was ranked the number one technical training centre in North America by the American Gas Association. During your visit, you will see the school’s modern training facilities and witness a simulation of a natural gas leak emergency intervention.
