Optional Tours - Post Congress

On Friday September 17, in addition to the Tourism Program, WEC Montreal 2010 will offer day visits to two very beautiful and interesting cities ; Quebec, full of history and quebecois culture and Ottawa, the capital city of Canada (additional costs will apply).

Quebec City

A remarkable cultural and geographic crossroads—the city could be called a bridge of sorts between Europe and the Americas—Québec has a unique and special role to play internationally.

Known worldwide for its rich history and heritage, it is also a modern and dynamic city. Its economic and cultural strength has fostered ties with major cities around the world. Its economic and cultural strengths promote partnerships with other cities around the world, and its ties abroad help attract many international events.

Its status as a world heritage city also contributes to its international renown.

Québec City is 400 years old. It boasts four centuries of history marked by encounters with the First Nations, battles between the French and English, terrible epidemics, and the acts of the men and women our streets are named after today; four centuries during which Québec has grown into the city we know and love, forging a character all its own built around a thriving culture, economic success, urban transformation, neighborhood life, and the French language.

Ottawa City

Nestled on the banks of the majestic Ottawa, Rideau and Gatineau Rivers, Ottawa is one of the most beautiful G8 capitals in the world. Ottawa is also rich in culture and heritage with its many national institutions, parklands, waterways and historic architecture. It is home to a large number of foreign embassies and is a recognized centre for both academics and professional training. The city offers an open and welcoming environment to cultures from around the world, providing service in English, French, and a host of other languages.

Ottawa lies in northeast North America, in the Province of Ontario, Canada. It is bordered by the Ottawa River to the north, while the historic Rideau River and Rideau Canal meander north to south through the city. Directly across the Ottawa River are the City of Gatineau and the picturesque Outaouais region in the Province of Québec.

Ottawa is Canada’s fourth largest city with over 877,300 residents.
