Developing Countries Program


WEC Montreal 2010 is committed to ensuring adequate representation from developing countries during its proceedings.  To this end, the organization agrees to support the participation of delegates from developing countries.  This support will include discounted registration fees, and may also include support for travel and accommodation. 

To participate in the Developing Countries Program of WEC Montreal 2010, applicants should meet the following criteria:

  • Citizenship in one of the developing countries designated as such by the World Energy Council. These countries are, in alphabetical order:  Albania, Botswana, Bulgaria, Cameroon, Congo, Côte d’Ivoire, Ethiopia, Ghana, Jordan, Kenya, Lebanon, Macedonia, Mongolia, Morocco, Namibia, Nepal, Niger, Nigeria, Pakistan, Paraguay, Peru, Philippines, Senegal, Serbia, Sri Lanka, Swaziland, Syria, Tajikistan, Tanzania, Tunisia, Uruguay, and Yemen.
  • Working within the energy industry; preference will be given to organizations belonging to the WEC;
  • Fluent in English or French;
  • Highly motivated, and encouraged to work with WEC and share their views and experiences.

The final choice of participants, along with the precise nature of the contribution for each participant, rests with the WEC Montreal 2010 organizing committee.
