Montreal, May 15, 2010. - A total of 12 major international energy-related events will now be held in conjunction with WEC Montréal 2010! The organizers of the events seek to take advantage of the Congress's strategic positioning in the world energy calendar at less than a year after the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP15) in Copenhagen, just two months after the G-8 and G-20 summits which will be held in Canada, and only a few months before COP16.

Given the present economic climate and an attendant sense of global urgency, combined with the advent of profound transformations in the world, these organizations have decided to join forces with the Congress. As a result, WEC Montréal 2010 will be a key event for anyone wishing to take part in the discussions of the momentous current and future energy issues facing the Earth.
Over 200 confirmed speakers from 52 different countries will come to discuss the world energy situation and close to 3500 participants are expected at the Montréal Congress.
World Energy Council
The 21st World Energy Congress is organized under the auspices of the World Energy Council (WEC), which is headquartered in London, United Kingdom. It is a UK registered charity that was founded in 1923, and is accredited by the United Nations (UN). It represents all players in the energy industry and has Member Committees in nearly 100 countries. Its mission is to promote the sustainable supply and use of energy for the greatest benefit of all people. After stops on several continents (Madrid, Tokyo, Houston, Buenos Aires, Sydney and Rome), the World Energy Congress returns to Montreal in September 2010, for the second time in its history: the city hosted the 14th edition of the World Energy Congress in 1989.
